With a total GDP of 1,616 billion US dollars (2023), Preah Sihanouk Province currently has a total of 3,833 factories and enterprises, creating employment opportunities for over 110,000 workers as of April 2025, with a total average annual wage of approximately 359 million US dollars. Additionally, this potential coastal province has 5 operating Special Economic Zones (SEZ). Among them, the Sihanoukville SEZ is considered the most prominent, with a total of 200 investment companies and over 300 factories and enterprises, employing more than 30,000 workers with an average monthly wage of 311 US dollars. Key industries include: electronics, automobile assembly, garment factory, clothing, footwear, bags, beverage and food, packaging materials and diamond processing factories, etc.
The Cambodia Coastal Master Plan envisions to transform the four coastal provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot, and Kep into a model multi-purpose special economic zone and comprehensive economic corridor and to transform Preah Sihanouk Province into a regional integrated industrial hub, serving as an international gateway and national development pole for the Kingdom of Cambodia.
